Supervisory systems should make the state of the installation understandable: what is running, what needs attention and what action is available. Axistra scopes SCADA, DCS and BMS work around the process, existing controllers, operator needs and system interfaces.

Industrial applications may include process displays, alarms, trends and data exchange. For industrial and premium office buildings, the scope may cover BMS controllers, lighting control including DALI, and sensors. Connections between process automation and building management are defined where the project requires them.

The platform, accessible data, engineering changes and required documentation are established during scoping. Existing-system compatibility and permissions are checked before an integration method is selected.

The process comes first.

We work with different manufacturers and platforms according to customer preferences. We assess compatibility with existing equipment, maintenance requirements and technical scope before proposing the solution.

What we define together

The activities and documentation are defined by the requirements and agreement for the project.

Practical questions

Are SCADA, DCS and BMS interchangeable?

They address different control and supervision needs. The process, existing platform and operating requirements determine the appropriate scope. Sharing data does not mean replacing one system with another.

Can an existing system exchange data with a new one?

That depends on supported interfaces, licenses, versions, access and the data required. These details should be established before promising a connection.

Does the scope include remote access?

Remote access can be discussed where required. Its purpose, authorization, network conditions and responsibilities must be agreed for the installation; it is not assumed to be available by default.
